The Persuader BS1 package is finally here! These systems fit a variety of BMW vehicles covering model years 1999-2006. With an additional high performance engine control module, the adapter box is an intricate header/connector translation device. The factory vehicle wiring harness plugs right into this adapter. The adapter performs all of of the pin translation, complex splices, power distribution, and also contains extra hardware that is required to utilize all factory components. This is all possible by constructing a high quaity, multi-layer PC board located within the Persuader box. The Persuader offers the durability and reliability that is necessary as compared to complicated patch wiring harnesses.
The Persuader BS1 system is designed for use in conjunction with both the KV and SL (SL has limited support) series ECUs offered from Emtron (sold separately).
Two 12 pin Deutsch expansion sockets allow expanding inputs and outputs conveniently.
There is a standard ethernet jack allowing a simple way to interface with the ECUs high speed PC connection eliminating the need for proprietary cabling.
A base map with basic configuration is included (with ECU purchase). Hundreds of hours have been invested into providing “real” base calibration that ensure all necessary functions are properly configured and controlled. E-throttle settings, VVT/Vanos, triggering, actuator frequencies, PID controls, are all custom tailored per kit to ensure full functionality and ease of use.
In addition to the basics, control over main relay, factory ignition coils, factory electric fan (with variable speed control), factory fuel pump (with variable speed control), suction jet pump (if applicable), high-impedance injection, and cylinder specific knock control are still functional. Control over these functions in most cases are improved over the OE ECU.
Twin bank wideband air/fuel sensor support (Direct support with KV only), however factory fuel feedback sensing systems can be supported.
Factory vehicle CAN bus integration is included (see below). This ensures the ABS operates, gauges, warning lights, and other important features work like OE. Advanced features will be included such as cruise control, traction control, map switching, AC system control, and more.
In addition to all of the above customization, the plethora of standard features the EMTron engine control systems offer are still fully functional. Some functions will require additional sensor inputs via expansion port.
The Persuader has also been designed to allow the interchange of the KV8, KV12 or KV16 ECU for extreme applications requiring even more inputs and outputs.
BMW 1999-2006 Siemens engine control systems
Modern vehicles have computer networks that connect various systems together requiring less wiring and complication. These networks also allow different control systems to share important data. Up until the last few years, it was almost impossible to integrate aftermarket engine control systems within these networks (hence the term “standalone”), however modern vehicles benefit immensely from retaining these features. Pavlotech engine control systems can integrate seamlessly into the factory networks when applicable. The same way the original equipment exchanges data can now be used for even more performance features. Various switch inputs transmitted from various systems, ABS data, warning lights, gauges and more, can all be configured as extra I/O.
Persuader BS1 picks up the following inputs over CAN (with ECU purchase)
Wheel speed sensors
A/C compressor request
Body system load percentage (A/C compressor estimated load, plus some electrical loads)
Rudimentary combined value. Used for compensations and fan speed (A/C Pressure)
Cruise control switches
Use TBD - Traction control
Persuader BS1 provides the following outputs over CAN
Coolant temperature gauge
Oil temperature gauge (reports coolant temperature)
Service Engine Soon light (connected to ECU faults)
Engine failsafe program message/EML light (drive by wire faults)
Pedal position (with kickdown)
A/C compressor on
Charge system malfunction light
